A Chesterton man is dead, after a crash in rural LaPorte County Monday morning. Sheriff’s deputies say they were called to the 2100 block of North Wozniak Road around 8:50 a.m.
Officers believe a red 2015 Nissan was heading south on Wozniak Road when it drove left of center, across the northbound lane, off the road, and into a NIPSCO utility pole. The driver, Michael A. Toth, 53, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say they don’t know why the car left the road, and toxicology results are pending.
The Coolspring Township Volunteer Fire Department, LaPorte County EMS, LaPorte County Coroner’s Office, Cloverleaf Garage, and NIPSCO assisted sheriff’s deputies at the scene.
