Eastern Pulaski bus drivers now have an updated policy when it comes to alcohol and controlled substance testing. Superintendent Dara Chezem says the update was approved by the school board last week.
“The state has made new policies in that a clearinghouse for our CDL employees is required, and so the new policy reflects those changes that are required by the state,” Chezem says.
The draft minutes from last week’s meeting explain that the clearinghouse would inform potential employers of positive drug and alcohol tests. The policy update also increases the length of time drivers are prohibited from consuming alcohol before driving their bus from four to six hours, according to the draft minutes.
School corporations throughout the local area are making similar updates.
