The Culver Town Council members considered the purchase of security cameras and equipment upgrades this week at the request of Town Marshal Wayne Bean.
The current security system is over 10 years old and is needing costly repair.
He said that Vermillion Systems submitted a quote of $6,473 while Maddox Services submitted a quote for $6,800. It would cover the cost of replacing the four cameras currently in operation and adding two more cameras to the overall system. Both quotes also include the price of DVR storage and software and hardware costs and installation.
Bean asked the council to consider the higher quote as it offers more terabytes for data storage and he said that is critical for police use.
The council members unanimously agreed to go with the quote from Maddox Services and cited Bean’s reasoning behind accepting the higher price.
