The Hamlet Police Department will be getting a new vehicle.
Town Marshal Clint Norem explained to the Hamlet Town Council members Thursday night that the 2014 Ford Explorer was experiencing problems. The mechanic assured Norem that repairs would be under warranty, but when the engine was already taken apart and diagnosed, it was discovered that the needed work was not under warranty.
Norem said it would cost more to fix the vehicle rather than buy a new vehicle.
He received three quotes for a 2020 Ford SUV, but will negotiate a trade-in value for the 2014 Explorer.
The Hamlet Town Council agreed to allow Norem to purchase a new vehicle.
