The Pulaski County Commissioners passed an Executive Order Wednesday evening that calls for the county buildings to be closed to the public beginning Monday, March 23 until further notice.
Pulaski County officials are taking this action to combat the threat to public health and safety posed by COVID-19.
County employees will be allowed to continue to work, but members of the public are asked to conduct business by phone, email or by other means necessary that doesn’t include personally entering the county offices for business reasons. An appointment may be made and conducted at the discretion of the county official.
Additionally, employees are banned from non-essential work-related travel outside of the county. All pre-approvals are withdrawn and any upcoming conference requests will not be considered until further notice.
The judicial branch has its own restrictions.
The Executive Order will be reevaluated on April 6 during the commissioners’ regular meeting.
The Pulaski County Commissioners and Pulaski County Council jointly approved a temporary workforce reduction policy. This will be in effect only if enacted by the Commission President. If enacted, only essential employees would be allowed to work and will be paid a “hazard pay” hourly increase of five hours for each week or partial week that is worked under the policy. Essential employees include Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputies, 911 dispatchers, jailers, jail kitchen staff, EMS workers, EMA Director, and Health Department officials. If the temporary workforce reduction policy is enacted, all other employees will not work, but will continue to be paid their normal wages. PTO or comp time will not need to be used.
