Several people are stepping up to help Pulaski County residents dealing with substance use disorder. Last week’s recovery coach training drew a huge turnout, according to Circuit Court Judge Mary Welker.
“A lot of people stayed the entire time and a variety of people,” Welker told the county commissioners Monday. “So everyone from people who are in recovery, Four County, doctor’s offices, and general people were there, and so . . . that’s really going to be an asset for us.”
Superior Court Judge Crystal Brucker Kocher explained that the recovery coaches will be paired with individuals who go through the court system and need help maintaining their sobriety.
Kocher said the training was led by Juvenile Probation Officer Sandy Lucas and officials from Four County Counseling Center. She believed that 16 people took part in the program, and many of them had gotten scholarships from Four County.
