Starke County employees will be participating in Good Deeds Day for an entire week leading up to the official observance.
March 29 is Good Deeds Day which is observed globally. Auditor Rachel Oesterreich told the Starke County Commissioners last week that county employees will participate the week leading up to that Sunday. They will be collecting items for The Redskins Closet at the Knox Middle School.
The purpose of The Redskins Closet is to provide toiletries, clothing and other items that children in need could use. The room is in a private and discreet location. Students who wish to access it just have to stop by the front desk and someone will open the door for them.
Oesterreich said the first 30 employees will receive a free t-shirt. The Good Deeds Day t-shirts were donated to the county for Good Deeds Day.
