The West Central School Board members will continue a discussion on the possible move of the sixth grade class back to the Elementary School.
In February, Middle/High School Principal Scott Ritchie said moving the sixth grade back to the Elementary School would help streamline things at the middle school level in terms of pairing teachers with subjects. He also believes it would be better for sixth grade students in terms of disciplinary issues.
Superintendent Dan Zylstra said at the time that it’s an additional grade at the elementary school for the principal and counselor to work with and while it’s not a new concept there, an instructional aide could move down with those students to help.
Another topic the board members will resume discussions on is the development of a policy to allow homeschooled students to participate in sports at West Central, specifically at the middle school level.
In other business, the second reading of the CDL driver testing policy will be considered as well as setting the 2020-2021 board meeting dates.
The West Central School Board members will meet at 7:30 p.m. ET in the Corporation Office on Montgomery Street in Francesville.
