Winamac’s property taxes will soon be going up slightly. The town council voted Monday to reestablish the Cumulative Capital Development Fund at its maximum rate of five cents per $100 of assessed valuation. It’s currently at 4.23 cents, since it decreases over time.
The change would take effect with the taxes payable in 2021. Clerk-Treasurer Melanie Berger previously told council members that the move could bring in another $5,300 for Winamac.
No comments were offered during a public hearing Monday. Taxpayers still have a chance to object to the increase to the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance, by filing a petition with the Pulaski County Auditor’s Office.
