The risk of COVID-19 has health care providers seeing patients over the internet. Locally, LaPorte Physician Network says its doctors are now accepting telehealth appointments, including those in Knox and North Judson.
Patients can use a smartphone, tablet, or computer to see their doctor without leaving home. The physician network says telehealth can be used for minor illnesses like colds and allergies, minor injuries such as sprains, follow-up care, and medication and chronic disease management. Some appointments do require a physical examination, though.
Video telehealth visits are covered by many insurance plans, according to the physician network, but some will also cover phone visits.
