Medaryville Town Council Asks Maintenance Workers to Use Separate Vehicles

The maintenance workers for the Town of Medaryville will be riding in separate vehicles following a request by the Medaryville Town Council members Thursday night.  They want to ensure they are keeping a social distance while on the job.

Maintenance Supervisor Keith Hauptli said there is a pick-up and dump truck he and Assistant Steve Foust can use separately while working.  The town council members discussed the possible allowance of personal vehicles, but Town Attorney Amber Lapaich warned against that citing insurance liability.

Hauptli argued that it’s difficult for the pair to stay six feet away at all times because they have to work closely on projects.  Town Council President Suzanna Wilcoxon said as long as they wear masks they would be ok.  While they work in open air, they wouldn’t need to wear the masks.  She even offered to make the masks and Hauptli accepted.  They were also offered to Clerk-Treasurer Stacy Conley and her employee so all can be safe while working.

Hauptli commented that they are not going in to any homes when responding to calls and noted that utility shut-offs are prohibited during the state’s Public Health Disaster Emergency Declaration.
