Wanted Michigan City Man Faces Additional Charges following LaPorte County Traffic Stop

A Michigan City man with an arrest warrant now faces additional charges, following a traffic stop near Rolling Prairie Sunday morning. A LaPorte County sheriff’s deputy says he was heading east on U.S. 20 west of State Road 2, when a speeding passenger vehicle passed his police car.

A check of the license plate reportedly revealed that it was expired, and the registered owner’s driver’s license was suspended. After pulling the vehicle over, the deputy also discovered that the driver was wanted by the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office, according to the police report.

Wilbert Bureau Jr., 61, was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated, violating the governor’s stay-at-home order, and for the arrest warrant reportedly stemming from an alleged domestic battery offense.
