All Starke County employees will be returning to work on Monday, May 11. The only exception will be the at-risk employees who will return to work on May 26, the first working day following the Memorial Day holiday. Until that time, at-risk employees will remain on call.
The commissioners stress that social distancing will be observed in all buildings at all times.
The Starke County Annex Buildings and the Starke County Courthouse will remain closed to the public until an evaluation is conducted after Memorial Day. Appointments can be made to enter the buildings beginning May 26.
Starke Circuit Court Judge Kim Hall and Starke County Sheriff Bill Dulin will be making policies for their own departments and employees. The county’s COVID-19 Task Force will determine policies and procedures for all other departments. The commissioners highly recommend that employees wear face masks, but that determination will also be made by the task force.
Hand sanitizer will be provided as well as antibacterial wipes. Plexiglass will be installed in some departments for added protection for the employees and members of the public.
For any other guidelines on county business, the commissioners are following the governor’s outline in his “Back on Track” plan provided at www.backontrack.in.gov.
