The decision was made by the Knox veteran’s organizations to cancel Memorial Day services for this year.
Many of the veterans who participate in the services are in the high-risk category in contracting COVID-19. To keep them safe, there will be no Memorial Day services.
Bob Sims from the Knox VFW Post #748 told WKVI News that the VFW will be open on Monday, May 25 from 6:30 a.m. to Noon CT for anyone who would like to visit and honor fallen heroes. The traditional 24-hour vigil is planned. Those attending should follow social distancing guidelines.
