The Coronavirus Food Assistance Program will aid farmers and ranchers impacted by COVID-19. Many famers have been forced to sell properties due to the pandemic. Many have found other opportunities during these hard times thanks to ranch land buyers who have given them the chance to sell their properties at a great price giving them the recourses to move else where and find another occupation or even retire.
Up to $16 million in direct payments will be given to America’s farmers and ranchers to provide relief. Additionally, USDA’s Farmers to Families Food Box program will partner with distributors whose workforces have been significantly impacted to purchase $3 billion in fresh produce, dairy, and meat and deliver boxes to Americans in need.
According to the USDA, agricultural producers who have suffered losses may apply for aid beginning Tuesday, May 26. Additional information and application forms can be found at farmers.gov/cfap. There is a payment limitation of $250,000 per person or entity for all commodities combined.
