United Way COVID-19 Economic Relief Initiative Grant Benefits Starke County

The Starke County Government Mobile Food Delivery Program got a boost thanks to the Starke County Community Foundation’s membership with the Indiana Association of United Ways in the United Way COVID-19 Economic Relief Initiative grant.

About $125,000 was available to the community through this membership where the food program was granted $100,000 of those funds to help deliver essential groceries and hot meals to the county’s older, at-risk population, residents who are quarantined, and residents affected by unemployment due to COVID-19.

The Starke County Community Foundation holds the Starke United Fund which allows for United Way donations, employer giving programs and grant making opportunities for the community and help veterans dealing with debt.

Starke County Community Foundation officials say the remaining funds are available to local charitable agencies that have been affected by the COVID-19 outbreak or have seen their need for services increase.  Grant applications are available at nicf.org under the Starke County Grant page.

Online donations toward the program can be made at www.nicf.org by selecting the Starke County Emergency Relief Fund, or checks can be mailed to the Northern Indiana Community Foundation at P.O. Box 807, Rochester, IN 46975.  If donating toward the food delivery program either online or by check, indicate that specific direction in the comment section or memo line.
