The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles will once again accept walk-in customers starting today. BMV Commissioner Peter Lacy says license branches are also back to their normal operating hours.
“When you do visit a branch, your experience might look a little bit different,” Lacy explained during Friday’s COVID-19 press conference. “We are limiting the number of customers that come into a branch to ensure that we have proper spacing in our waiting rooms. We’ll also ask folks to wait outside socially-distanced, as they wait for capacity to become available inside the branch.”
Customers still have the option of making an appointment. But Lacy said the BMV won’t resume driving skills exams for another few weeks. “By the end of June, we will start rescheduling the individuals who had appointments on our books and had to be canceled due to the public health emergency,” he said. “Once we have scheduled all of these individuals, we will open up the scheduler to accommodate new driving skills exams.”
The BMV encourages Hoosiers to continue to use the BMV’s website whenever possible.
