The Culver School Board members approved bids for roofing and door projects at the Elementary School and the Middle/High School.
The board approved a roofing bid from Technique Roofing from St. Henry, Ohio, at a cost of just under $1.4 million. It was noted by Maintenance Director Mike Garland that the company provided the best warranty and quality of product in their bid well as walk cleats, and ladders for the Elementary School.
Superintendent Karen Shuman commented that the company representatives will inspect the roof each year of the 20-year warranty which was above and beyond the other bids submitted. The board also approved a bid from R. Yoder Construction to replace interior and exterior doors and/or hardware at the school buildings for almost $455,000. Garland stated that company representatives looked at every door to review replacement needs and if hardware needed to be updated.
The board sold $3.2 million in General Obligation bonds that will help pay for these projects, and for the purchase of real estate, and equipment and technology projects later down the road. The sale of the General Obligation bonds will not increase the tax rate. Superintendent Karen Shuman previously explained that existing debt will be falling off which will allow the tax rate not to exceed 2019 levels.
