The Knox Community School Corporation may add a number of items to its building project, after bids for the site work and building construction came in under budget.
The school board reviewed some wish list items from the principals and athletic director during a recent work session, according to Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart. “One would be replacing the upper bleachers at Weinberg for safety reasons,” Reichhart says. “We’re replacing the lower-level bleachers now, and we feel like just getting those uppers would also be advantageous for us with new handrails.”
Other potential athletic upgrades include resurfacing the track, converting the football field lights to LED technology, and adding a new football scoreboard. Possible improvements at the elementary school include new preschool playground equipment and new computers. The middle school could get new cafeteria chairs and security gates.
At Knox High School, Reichhart says the auditorium might get new stage curtains and a new sound system, while the first floor might be remodeled. “All these things are cosmetic, like new flooring, lighting, ceiling, just cosmetic things, no changing of structures,” he explains.
Reichhart says the list will be refined and brought back to the school board for final approval.
