When the Knox Community School Corporation began its COVID-19 meal delivery program, a number of students were among those who stepped up to help. Transportation Director Tara Pitts says 13 students helped deliver food to children in Starke County.

For eight weeks, they joined about 40 adults who also helped with the delivery, plus another 20 to 30 adults who helped prepare and bag the meals, according to Pitts. To recognize those students’ efforts, Pitts plans to give each one of them a t-shirt that says “Whatever it takes, Starke County students are worth it!”

The delivery program ended a couple weeks ago, but the school corporation is still offering meals for pickup as part of the USDA Summer Food Service Program. Pickup is held Mondays from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to noon at Knox Middle School.
