The Pulaski County Commissioners have officially hired an architect for the courthouse renovation and justice center expansion. On Monday, the commissioners finalized a contract with Rowland Design. That’s the same firm the county used for the preliminary plans. Rowland’s fee will be 9.5 percent of the total project cost with $5,000 due up-front.
Monday’s resolution also finalized a few other items that had previously been discussed. The county will use the construction manager as constructor method of selecting a project manager. As part of the process, the commissioners appointed a seven-member committee that will put together a request for qualifications, interview potential project managers, and make a recommendation to the county commissioners.
That committee includes a commissioner, council member, Rowland representative, the county auditor, the county attorney, and a member of the public. It will be chaired by Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer, who’s serving as the county’s liaison on the project.
