While many events are being canceled, plans for Hamlet’s Yellowstone Trail Festival are still moving ahead. The Hamlet Town Council got an update last week. This year’s festival will include a fireworks display on Saturday, August 15, following the parade.
Plans call for the fireworks to be set off from the area between the baseball diamonds. Hamlet Street will be closed from Indiana to Terry streets during the fireworks show. Town officials and festival organizers are expecting a large turnout, due to the lack of other events that are still taking place during the pandemic.
Festival organizers were also given their usual $1,000 donation from the town. It was approved last month, but town officials decided to wait until last week to give them the check, to make sure the event was still happening.
