The North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation is giving more details about what the new school year will look like. Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin released N.J.-S.P.’s 2020-2021 reopening plan this week. Students will be encouraged but not mandated to wear face coverings, especially on buses and in hallways. Staff will be asked to wear masks when social distancing isn’t possible.
Students will not be using lockers, and large assemblies and field trips will be eliminated during the pandemic. Classes will be organized to allow for social distancing, and seating charts will be required to make it easier to do contact tracing, if needed. Plans are also in place to spread students out during lunch time by using additional space like the middle school cafeteria and the elementary school gym.
As previously announced, N.J.-S.P.’s school year is expected to start as scheduled on August 12, but there will also be an at-home learning option. Families choosing the at-home option are asked to email Dr. Zupin by July 24 at azupin@njsp.k12.in.us or let school officials know when they register, if they haven’t done that already. Zupin stresses that plans could change depending on conditions.
