Pulaski Memorial Hospital has ended its dedicated COVID-19 hotline. Those with coronavirus questions are now directed to call their primary care provider instead. Hospital officials say that those who may have COVID-19 symptoms or have come into contact with someone who’s tested positive can make an appointment with one of the hospital’s providers by calling 574-946-2194.
Pulaski Memorial Hospital plans to continue to offer testing each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. You can find other testing sites on the state’s map at coronavirus.in.gov. Those with medical emergencies should visit their hospital’s emergency room.
Pulaski Memorial Hospital also reports that it’s taking longer for patients to get their COVID-19 test results, sometimes over four days. The hospital was told by its commercial lab that it’s once again over capacity and backlogs are growing. LabCorp told the hospital that in addition to those who are sick, it’s also processing tests from hospital and nursing home workers, as well as students planning to head to college in the fall.
The hospital also says it has a social worker available to help patients with their mental health during the pandemic, and the Senior Care program is available for those age 65 and older. Residents are reminded to wear a mask, wash their hands, and practice social distancing to slow the spread of COVID-19.
