South Central to Start School Year with Virtual Learning

South Central students will start the school year with virtual learning. In a letter to parents Friday, Superintendent Dr. Theodore Stevens announced that school officials have decided to use the 100-percent virtual option until further notice out of an abundance of caution. The first day of class is still August 12.

While students will be working from home, teachers will be in their classrooms, with the goal being to mirror the classroom experience as much as possible. Stevens called the change “a huge inconvenience to everyone,” but said it provides the greatest opportunity to keep everyone safe.

School officials hope they’ll be able to return to a hybrid model or full attendance in the future, but they don’t know when that will happen. More information about classroom materials and Chromebook pickup will be shared with parents soon.
