Starke County Clerk Bernadette Manuel is awaiting resolutions from the Starke County Commissioners and Starke County Council before the Vote Center plan is sent to the state.
The Starke County Election Board unanimously voted this spring to move the county forward with Vote Centers. The vote came too late to switch for the June Primary Election, but it will be in place for the November General Election.
Starke County will have seven Vote Centers open on Election Day this November. Those locations include the Koontz Lake Property Owners Building, James R Hardesty Community Building in Hamlet, Washington Township Community Building, Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center in Knox, North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department, San Pierre Fire Department, and Bass Lake California Township Fire Department. Voters can vote at any of the Vote Centers as it is not precinct-specific.
In addition, the Koontz Lake Property Owners Building and North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department building will be the sites of satellite absentee voting locations that will be open for two weeks prior to Election Day.
Absentee voting will also be available at the Starke County Courthouse with the usual schedule.
The plan also includes information on poll workers, population data, precinct data, proposed equipment, an emergency plan, and security plan.
More specific details will be released as Election Day draws closer.
