The Eastern Pulaski School Board recently approved the textbook fees for the upcoming school year. Superintendent Dara Chezem says they’ll vary depending on grade level and, at the high school, course selection, but overall, they’ll be similar to last year’s.
“The State Board of Accounts, during our last audit, had indicated that, going forward, they will no longer approve a flat fee for textbook and student rentals,” Chezem explains. “So that has changed now, and it is based on the courses and textbooks that students will be accessing.”
Fees at the elementary school will range from just under $99 to over $110 and from about $126 to $141 at the middle school. Book rental fees at the high school will depend on which specific classes the student is taking.
Those fees include a new “technology fee” of five dollars at the elementary school and $15 at the middle and high schools. Chezem says that will replace an optional $50 insurance policy that was available in the past. Chromebook and iPad agreements approved by the school board will now allow elementary school students to take their devices (click here for more info on devices like fax machine) home for eLearning.
