North Judson Council Agrees to Proceed with Almost $21,000 in Non-Street Paving Projects

The Town of North Judson is moving ahead with some non-street paving projects. The work will include the sidewalk along Norwayne Field, a set of railroad tracks near American Oak, and the alley running parallel to Lane Street between Main and Adair. The town council last week agreed to hire Town & Country Paving to do the work at a cost of just under $21,000. The only other quote the town received was for over $56,000.

Council members considered only doing one or two of the items to lessen the impact on the town’s budget, but Council President John Rowe felt that all three areas needed work. “I think we need to do the park for sure, Norwayne,” Rowe said. “I don’t know if anybody else has been out there. The tracks, I rode over them. They’re awful. I . . . checked it out, and they’re bad. They have to be done. So obviously, that’s a big difference in price there. And then, last, is this alley. This alley is brutal, if anybody ever goes down this alley.”

Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe recommended taking the money from the town’s Railroad Fund. Town Superintendent Joe Leszek said the work is expected to take place this fall.
