Oregon-Davis Elementary School was briefly evacuated Monday, after a smoke alarm went off in one of the classrooms. In a Facebook post, school officials say it happened around noon CDT.
Firefighters were called to the school to make sure it was safe to reenter. School officials say the alarm was caused by light smoke from an overheated motor in a classroom air handler. They add that “students and staff did a great job exiting the building and waiting patiently to reenter.”
The same thing reportedly happened at the junior/senior high school on August 13. Planning has been underway for HVAC upgrades at both school buildings.
