The Starke County Commissioners reviewed quotes for tree removal at the courthouse.
Commissioner Kathy Norem said a forester found two silver maple trees and a gum tree that were rotted on the courthouse square. If the trees are not removed, read more about this as they could fall on the courthouse and cause damage or fall on the new Veterans War Memorial Plaza. Other trees around the courthouse need to be trimmed and dead limbs removed to keep them healthy.
Maintenance Director Jim Coad got two quotes for $3,500 and $3,750. The low quote was submitted by TD’s Tree Service and that quote was approved. TD’s Tree Service offered to cut down the trees that need to be removed for free.
