Starke County Council, Commissioners to Meet Tonight

The Starke County Council members will consider several coronavirus relief fund requests when they meet tonight.

The Auditor’s Office, EMS Department, Highway Department, Sheriff’s Department, Surveyor’s Office, Assessor’s Office and IT Department have made requests for CARES Act funding.  A committee met last week to go over necessities for the county.  The county has $744,000 to spend on needs before Dec. 31.

Additionally, the council will consider a request from the Starke County Clerk on an increase in till money, Prosecutor Leslie Baker will discuss the Pre-trial Diversion Fund, and EMA Director J. Nier will have a spreadsheet of grants for review.

The Starke County Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. CT tonight followed directly by the Starke County Commissioners meeting.

Starke County Economic Development Foundation Executive Director Larry Wickert will discuss a solar farm project, and the commissioners will consider quotes for tree removal at the Starke County Courthouse and a quote for sealing the parking lots at both Annex buildings.

Both meetings will be held in the ground floor meeting room in the Starke County Annex Building No. 1 at 53 E. Mound Street in Knox.
