Starke County EMS to Participate in Training this Weekend

Starke County Emergency Services personnel will be involved in a two-day tactical combat casualty course training this weekend.

EMS Director Travis Clary told the Starke County Commissioners this week that the training will help crews respond to possible active shooter situations, and how to use physical tactics for protection.  Clary explained that attendees will go over a mass casualty situation and how to get themselves and a patient to safety in an event.

“We have two paramedics on staff with some military and police backgrounds that will be teaching the class,” said Clary.

Training on Saturday will involve classroom instruction with simulated scenarios on Sunday at the Knox Community School Corporation.
