Winamac Agrees to Contribute $1,000 to Forward Thinking Leadership Initiative

The Town of Winamac has agreed to chip in to efforts to improve Pulaski County’s leadership.

The town council recently agreed to contribute $1,000 to the Community Foundation of Pulaski County’s Forward Thinking Leadership Initiative. Clerk-Treasurer Melanie Berger said she was able to find a line item with enough money in this year’s budget.

Community foundation executive director Wendy Rose noted that the effort had already gotten $1,000 from the Town of Monterey and $5,000 from the county. “I think it would say a lot if the town were to buy into this idea, recognizing the importance of leadership for people who serve, people who work in different capacities, just to raise the level of knowledge and ability across the county,” Rose told council members.

The Forward Thinking Leadership Initiative will involve a number of leadership programs over the coming years.

The next one will be held this Thursday. David Terrell with Ball State University will lead a community development session at 6:30 p.m. EDT. Residents now have the option of attending the event in-person at Bethel Bible Church on State Road 14 west of Winamac, participating on Zoom, or watching on Facebook Live.
