Indiana is reporting success with its Rapid Recovery program to help Hoosiers improve their job skills during the COVID-19 pandemic. Back in June, the state allocated $50 million in federal CARES Act money to expand the availability of free training opportunities.
Teresa Lubbers is the chair of the Governor’s Workforce Cabinet. “Since June alone, three months ago, over 5,500 Hoosiers have used the Workforce Ready Grant to enroll in classes or training,” she said during Wednesday’s COVID-19 press conference. “More than 2,800 Hoosiers have completed the Next Level Jobs program, the Workforce Ready Grant, getting them a certificate during this three-month period.”
During that same timeframe, the state’s Employer Training Grant allowed more than 7,300 employees to improve their skills. Now, Lubbers says the state is adding another $25 million to continue these efforts until the end of the year. “I encourage all Hoosiers to take the next step to further their education and training,” Lubbers said. “Now is the time, and as we say, and we mean it, Indiana has your back, so you can move forward.”
