A Michigan City woman was arrested Monday, after allegedly leading police on a pursuit on U.S. 20. It reportedly began around 8:40 p.m. near U.S. 20 and Fail Road.
A LaPorte County sheriff’s deputy says he was following a blue Lincoln SUV that was heading westbound, but it allegedly had a registration for a red Jeep SUV. The deputy says that when he tried to pull it over, it sped off westbound on U.S. 20.
Police say they placed tire deflation devices near County Road 525 West but the SUV continued toward Michigan City. After the driver reportedly lost control and hit a concrete median wall on Michigan Boulevard near Case Street, police say she got out and tried to run away. Amber R. Pace, 36, was taken into custody a short time later.
She was taken to the hospital for medical clearance and then booked into the LaPorte County Jail. Pace is accused of resisting law enforcement and criminal recklessness. Officers say she also had a Level 6 felony warrant for escape.
