Over 700 absentee ballots by mail have been sent out to voters requesting a ballot in Starke County.
Clerk Bernadette Manuel told the Starke County Election Board members Wednesday morning that 668 ballots were mailed out Saturday, September 19 with an additional 83 on Monday and 25 on Tuesday. She mentioned that there were several ballot requests to be processed on Wednesday.
Starke County voters wishing to vote by mail must submit a ballot application request by Thursday, October 22. That ballot must be received by the Clerkâs Office by noon CT on Election Day.
In-person absentee voting begins Tuesday, October 6 in the second floor conference room in the Starke County Courthouse at 53 E. Washington Street in Knox. It continues Monday through Friday through October 30 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT each day. Other opportunities to vote at the courthouse include Saturday, October 24 and Saturday, October 31 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. CT and Monday, November 2 from 8 a.m. to noon CT.
Two satellite locations will also be open for early voting. The North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department will be open Thursday, October 22 and Friday, October 23 from noon to 6 p.m. CT and Saturday, October 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. CT. The Koontz Lake Property Owners Building will be open for voters on Thursday, October 29 and Friday, October 30 from noon to 6 p.m., and Saturday, October 31 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. CT.
