The Starke County Council members reviewed an additional appropriation request for the North Judson-Wayne Township Public Library in the amount of $64,754
In June, Library Director Kelsie Purcell explained that the contractor who performed recent improvement work at the library did not complete the project with a positive result. She said in order to fix a water issue the windows will need to be removed. It is apparently worse than what it was prior to the project.
Purcell said that the library board members approved the higher bid from Millwood instead of the contractor who did not resolve the initial problem. They preferred that a different company resolve the water issue. Plus, this contractor can guarantee a better warranty.
Purcell did note that the money is in the library’s budget to cover the higher bid. The bid is about $14,000 more than the lower bid submitted.
The council members approved the additional appropriation request with a unanimous vote.
