Enrollment continues to drop at the Eastern Pulaski Community School Corporation.
Last month’s official count found a total of 1,124 students, according to Superintendent Dara Chezem. That’s a drop of 71 from September of 2019 and 163 fewer students when compared to September of 2017.
The number of students determines how much Education Fund money a school corporation gets from the state. In any case, Chezem says the 2021 budget adopted by the school board Monday is very similar to this year’s. It totals just over $14.3 million. Almost $7.7 million of that is the Education Fund, while over $4.4 million is in the Operations Fund budget.
The school board also approved the capital projects and bus replacement plans. Eastern Pulaski plans to replace one bus next year and then either two or three vehicles each year through 2025.
