Fugitive Arrested Near La Porte County School

Cameron Woodham

A La Porte County school was placed on lockdown Thursday as La Porte County Police searched for a wanted suspect.

Deputies with the La Porte County Sheriff’s Department were called to check on a call about a domestic disturbance shortly after noon Thursday at a residence in the 4000 S. block of Spring Creek Trail.  Police say when officers arrived at the location, 21-year-old Cameron Woodham fled the residence.  He was reportedly wanted on a felony warrant.

A search for Woodham began in an area surrounding the residence.  As officers continued their search close to the Kingsbury Elementary School, action was taken to lock down the school to protect school students and personnel, according to the report.

A short time later, Woodham reportedly voluntarily surrendered to Fugitive Apprehension Street Team Deputy Keith Wilson.  With Woodham in custody, the lockdown at the school was lifted.

Woodham was taken to the La Porte County Jail and remains housed there without bond on a warrant for the failure to return to lawful detention which is a Level 6 Felony.

Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
