Governor Holcomb Tests Negative for COVID-19

Governor Eric Holcomb has tested negative for COVID-19.

The governor, along with Indiana State Department of Health Chief Medical Officer Dr. Lindsay Weaver and staff members from both the governor’s office and the Indiana Department of Health took both an Abbott rapid test and a PCR test which all came back with negative results.

The government officials were tested out of caution following State Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box’s positive COVID-19 test result on Wednesday.  She spent time with her grandson and her daughter who both tested positive.  Dr. Box will quarantine for 14 days.

Dr. Box and Dr. Weaver stated the Governor and staff members did not meet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s definition of close contact as they were socially distanced and wore masks during their interactions with Dr. Box, according to a report released by the governor’s office.
