The first day of early voting drew hundreds of Starke and Pulaski County residents to the polls. In Starke County, 226 voters cast ballots Tuesday, according to Clerk Bernadette Manuel.
By noon Wednesday, Pulaski County had seen 150 residents vote at the Justice Center. Clerk JoLynn Behny said a second machine had to be added, after the wait stretched to more than a half hour. At least another 485 Pulaski County voters have requested to vote by mail.
The county has also seen a jump in the number of registered voters in the buildup to the General Election. Almost 9,000 Pulaski County residents are registered to vote in November’s election an up by more than 1,300 from the primary. But that number is still lower than it was four years ago.
In-person absentee voting continues until November 2, with Election Day voting on November 3.
