The Indiana Department of Health announced Tuesday that 51 additional people in the state have died from COVID-19. One of those deaths was reported in Pulaski County.
Another 2,062 people in the state have been diagnosed with COVID-19, increasing the overall state total to 166,564.
Marshall County and Starke County each reported 17 new positive COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. Pulaski County had five new cases. Marshall County has 1,490 cases overall, Starke County has 460 and Pulaski County is up to 179. Some adjustments were made in Pulaski County on the number of cases there as there were four cases that officials believed were to be identified outside of Pulaski County.
According to the Indiana Department of Health’s online dashboard, the age group with the highest percentage of cases is 20-29 at 19 percent, followed by the 40-49 age group, 30-39 age group, and 50-59 age group with a little over 14 percent in each group.
Thirty-four of the state’s ICU beds are available while a good percentage of ventilators remain available. COVID-19 patients make up a smaller percentage of non-COVID-19 patients using ICU beds and ventilators.
Health officials urge residents to remain vigilant in slowing the spread of COVID-19 by wearing masks in public, washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds at a time, use hand sanitizer and sanitize high-touch areas often, avoid large gatherings, and stay home when sick.
