Knox City Council Finalizes One-Percent Pay Raise for City Employees

Knox city employees are getting a one-percent pay raise next year. The city council gave its final approval to the 2021 salary ordinance Tuesday. Pay levels for elected officials, appointed board members, and the city’s attorneys will stay the same.

Meanwhile, Mayor Dennis Estok told council members that health insurance premiums are going up by about $27,000. “We anticipated that, so we did put it in the budget, the increase and all of that, so it’s not going to hurt us,” he said. “They did look at different companies again, and they were way higher, so I felt like $27,000 was probably a bargain.”

The city was able to get a significant savings last year by switching providers.
