A Michigan City man lost his life in a single-vehicle accident Saturday morning in the area of County Road 675 North, west of State Road 39 in Springfield Township in La Porte County.
According to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Department, a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Robert L. Comer was traveling west on County Road 675 North prior at about 7:45 a.m. CT when for an unknown reason the vehicle went off the south side of the roadway and collided with a concrete culvert. The vehicle then rolled over into a water-filled drainage ditch and came to rest on its roof, partially submerged in water. Police reportedly found that Comer was trapped inside the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Toxicology test results are pending.
