A new 2021 Ford ambulance will join the Starke County fleet of trucks this week.
Starke County EMS Director Travis Clary updated the commissioners Monday night on its arrival.
“The new ambulance that was recently purchased with the grant funding will be ready to pick up Wednesday morning at Crossroads Ambulance in Middlebury,” stated Clary. “The rig will be stocked with supplies and have radios installed this week by Signal 10 Equipment Installation in Knox. We hope to have the truck in service next week. The graphics were completed by Crossroads and that was included in the purchase price of the ambulance.”
The new ambulance will replace a 2011 Chevy ambulance which has been plagued with mechanical and electrical issues.
The purchase of the ambulance will be reimbursed with CARES Act funding in the amount of $126,439. The Indiana Finance Authority previously approved the purchase, along with three cots for the current fleet.
