Does the outside temperature have an effect on the spread of COVID-19?
Indiana State Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box commented on that topic brought up by a reporter during Governor Eric Holcomb’s press conference Wednesday afternoon.
She said that question was posed to a research team that health officials work with on a regular basis.
“Some people think that the colder weather actually does allow those particles to hang in the air longer and to not dissipate the same way,” stated Dr. Box. “Certainly, if you don’t have a nice breeze that can be a part of that too. Bringing it inside is probably the biggest concern and it’s all about what type of ventilation you have and how often that air is re-circulated inside. I think that still has yet to be determined based on the recent information that I looked at.”
More people attended outdoor events in the summer that could have contributed to a minimal community COVID-19 spread.
