Two intersections in Starke County are slated for safety improvements. What those improvements may be will be revealed next month.
Highway Superintendent Rik Ritzler previously told the Starke County Commissioners that a study conducted by Laura Slusher from Purdue LTAP found that the intersection at County Roads 200 N. and 700 E. did not warrant a four-way stop, but Ritzler said he respectfully disagreed with that analysis. He cited three accidents in the last year-and-a-half at that intersection and believes something needs to be done. It is currently a two-way stop.
He continues to work with Purdue LTAP officials with a solution and a recommendation will be presented to the commissioners in November. That same study found that the intersection of County Roads 100 E. and 500 S. does warrant a change in traffic and Ritzler said that solution will be presented in November.
