Another five Pulaski County residents have died from COVID-19. Those deaths occurred between November 10 and November 24, according to Wednesday’s update from the Indiana Department of Health. That brings the county’s total COVID-19 death toll up to 15.
Another 18 Pulaski County residents have tested positive, for a total of 395. Marshall County is approaching 3,000 total COVID-19 cases, with 53 new ones reported Wednesday. Starke County had another 17 positive cases, for a new total of 920.
The pandemic continues to impact some of the area’s long-term care facilities. Wednesday’s numbers from the state, which lag behind by a week, show that Miller’s Merry Manor in Culver had 26 resident cases, 21 staff cases, and six resident deaths, as of November 18. Meanwhile, Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac was up to 25 resident cases, 10 staff cases, and nine resident deaths. Golden Living Center in Knox had nine of its residents and seven staff members test positive. At least one but fewer than five of its residents had died. Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth, which was the site of an earlier outbreak, reported no new resident cases since October, as of last Wednesday
Marshall, Starke, and Pulaski counties all remain orange on the state’s color-coded map. That means gatherings of more than 50 people are prohibited without permission from the county health department. Seventeen counties are now in the red, while Rush County is now the lone yellow county. None are in the blue level.
Statewide COVID-19 death and hospitalization numbers remain high. Another 63 deaths were reported Wednesday, bringing the state’s total number of confirmed deaths to 5,232. The number of Hoosiers in the hospital due to COVID-19 is now up to 3,363. An additional 6,059 Hoosiers have tested positive, for a new total of 312,521.
