The North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation is switching to virtual learning until Thanksgiving. Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin says an elementary teacher has tested positive for COVID-19. Due to the number of close contacts that will have to quarantine, the school corporation won’t have enough staff available for in-person classes.
Zupin says teachers and staff will use Monday to finalize plans, and virtual learning will take place from November 17 through 27. The plan is for in-person classes to resume on November 30.
Most extracurricular activities will be able to continue, since there’s no significant student outbreak, but middle school athletic events are suspended until November 30. Zupin says she’s disappointed to have to switch to virtual learning, but she’s optimistic that the transition will only be temporary if social distancing efforts continue.
