Oregon-Davis teachers are getting a slight pay raise. The school board approved the 2020-2021 teacher contract by a vote of three-to-zero last week, according to Superintendent Bill Bennett. “The highlights of this year’s new contract include teachers receiving a $1,500 one-time stipend, as well as an increase on their base pay of $275,” Bennett says.
This is the second year in a row that O-D teachers are getting a raise, after going more than a decade without one.
Bennett says the school corporation removed the retirement incentive from this year’s contract, but it did add paid leave in the case of an “unprovoked assault.” “In the event a staff member was hurt here at work at no fault of their own by, say, a student or another staff or maybe an intruder, we would compensate that employee on top of whatever their insurance wouldn’t cover,” Bennett explains.
He says there were no other major changes to this year’s collective bargaining agreement.
